Steven Patrick Quinn April 19, 2001- October 12, 2024
Steven Patrick Quinn of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away in a tragic accident on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
Steven was born in Port Jervis, NY and was raised outside of town in Sparrowbush, NY. Steven lived his short life to the fullest. He thrived and enjoyed hard work; he was just as happy digging in a ditch with a shovel as he was to be operating a backhoe and any form of heavy equipment. His first job was at Simpson's Farm in Port Jervis, NY, where it helped to instill his work ethic at a very young age, and where he loved working with their dairy cows. His most recent position was working for TAM Enterprises in Goshen, NY, where he enjoyed working with every person on his crew. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local L0825C.
In his childhood, he spent every year he could, playing baseball for Port Jervis Little League where he made many great friends and learned from his Coaches Rich Kinman and his Dad, Jeff Quinn. He graduated from Port Jervis High School and the Orange-Ulster BOCES Program for Heavy Equipment in 2019. Steven had a passion for the great outdoors from the day he was born. He learned how to hunt and fish from his Dad, and would spend every minute he could out in nature, whether it be with his fishing poles, one of his rifles, shotguns, muzzleloader, or bow. No matter the weather, you could find Steven outside. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and grew up at Pole Bridge Hunting Club in Cuddebackville, NY, where he became a member at the age of 18. If he wasn't hunting or fishing, he could be found riding his quad or dirt bike. He recently learned to play golf and spent a lot of time playing with his friends. If you happened to find Steven at home, he was doing one of two things – helping his family or spending time with his Golden Retrievers. Steven was a Patriot who loved his country. He was always proud to be an American and honored the flag.
Steven made friends easily and was known as the life of the party. He had a love for life and an easy going nature about him. Steven's best trait and legacy was his desire to help people. It didn't matter who you were, where you were, time of day or night, or what you needed, Steven was there to help and he did it with a smile on his face. Steven's last act on this earth was on his way to help someone with his good friend, John Brehm.
Steven is survived by his parents, Jeffrey M. Quinn and Heather P. Quinn, of Sparrowbush, NY, who loved him with their every being. He is also survived by his siblings, Meagan M. Quinn of Greenville, NY and Colin J. Quinn of Sparrowbush, NY. His grandparents, Donna and Rich Knight, both of his great grandmothers, Anne Crine and Elizabeth Mungoven, Aunts and Uncles, Amanda Mungoven, Mike and Cathy Quinn, Scott and Elena Quinn, and John Quinn, as well as his cousins, Ryan, Kaleigh, Connor, Michael, McKenna, Brianna, Katie, William, Huk, and Wiley. He is also survived by Nick Savino, who was like a big brother to Steven, his "cousin" Anthony Strasser, along with numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Steven was predeceased by his grandfather, John Jack Quinn, his grandmother, Marion Honey Quinn, and his great grandfathers, Herbert Drew Crine and Harold Bus Mungoven.
The family asks everyone who knew Steven to honor his legacy and keep his memory alive by helping someone whenever you can, just as Steven did.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to: Pole Bridge Hunting Club, 702 Oakland Valley Road, Cuddebackville, NY 12729, in memory of Steven.
