Steven Renfroe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory - Piedmont on Dec. 16, 2025.
Steven Wendell Renfroe was born on September 10, 1963, in Virginia, and passed away on

December 15, 2025. He lived in Hoover, Alabama, and leaves behind a life marked by deep love

for his family, a strong work ethic, and a quiet strength that those closest to him knew well.

Steve shared 31 years of life with his wife, Amanda, including 28 years of marriage. Together

they built a home filled with love, loyalty, and commitment. He was a devoted husband and a

proud father who found his greatest joy in watching his children play sports, cheering them on

from the sidelines, and being present in their lives. He loved Auburn football, friendly

competition, and the thrill of a close game. Steve was hardworking and competitive by nature,

never one to do anything halfway.

Some of Steve's happiest moments were spent at the beach with family and friends, where

laughter came easily and memories were made that will be cherished forever.

Steve graduated from Piedmont High School and also from Jacksonville State University. He

dedicated his career to Microbiology, a field that reflected his curiosity, discipline, and desire to

contribute meaningfully to others. Over the years, he worked at Northeast Regional Medical

Center, Becton, Dickinson and Company, and most recently Princeton Baptist Hospital, where he

was respected for his knowledge, dependability, and strong work ethic.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Norman Renfroe, and his sister, Cheryl Renfroe

Wade.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda; his daughter, Lacey; his sons, Bradley and Andrew; his

mother, Eleanor Renfroe; his brother, Brandon Renfroe (Amanda); his aunts Martha Garmon

(Tony), Wanda Neill (Barclay), June Baines and his six nieces and seven nephews, all of whom

he loved deeply.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cross Creek Church on Thursday, December 18, with

visitation from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by a service beginning at 1:30 p.m. After the

service, friends and family are invited to gather for a reception at the Green Trails Clubhouse

from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., where all are welcome to share memories and stories of Steve.

On Friday, December 19, there will be a visitation at Thompson Funeral Home in Piedmont from

1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Highlands Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Renfroe family to help support the

family with ongoing expense. You can donate to Amanda's Venmo @Amanda-Renfroe.

I loved Steve and I loved working with you two together. Steve always helped me if I needed anything! I love you both and am thinking so much about you, Amanda and the kids.

Steve was truely a great person. He was someone who you could depend on and trust to help however he could. There are three things I think about when thinking of Renfroe. He hated getting any type of stain on his clothes. He was an intense Auburn fan. (This is actually an understatement.) Lastly, Steve absolutely loved his family. My prayers are with you Amanda as you and your family navigate life moving forward.
