Steven "Shorty" Foster Turner, a man known for his friendly demeanor and loving heart, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in his hometown of
Paris, Kentucky, at the age of 70. Shorty, as he was affectionately called by his friends and family, was born on April 11, 1955, to the late James Turner and Helen Louise Toomey Turner, and would remain a cherished member of the Paris community throughout his life.
Shorty's journey began as a sibling in a large and vibrant family. He is survived by his caring sister, Bertha Mitchell, and his brother, James Turner. Shorty also held a special place in the lives of his several nieces, nephews, and cousins, with special bonds formed with his nephews Cody Mitchell and Zaidyn Rhinesmith. Preceding him in death were not only his parents but also his six brothers: William Floyd Turner, Bruce Anthony Turner, Vernon Wayne Turner, Lester Dean Turner, Franklin Eugene Turner, and Larry David Turner, with whom he now rejoins in eternal peace.
For several years, Shorty dedicated himself to the community through his work with the Bourbon County Citizen Advertiser, where he delivered newspapers with a smile that became a staple to many. His humble service and the friendships he forged along his paper route remain a testament to the many lives he touched.
Shorty embraced both his Christian faith and his passions with wholehearted devotion. He possessed a boundless love for wrestling, taking joy in the spectacle and sportsmanship of the matches he watched with enthusiasm. Shorty was also well known for his love of Elvis Presley's music, a taste that always had him humming tunes and sharing the King's hits with those around him. Furthermore, the public library was a place of solace and discovery for Shorty, a locale where his inquisitive mind could roam free amongst the pages of countless books.
The words "friendly and loving" barely scratch the surface in describing a man of Shorty's caliber. His warm presence and generous spirit were a beacon of joy that uplifted everyone fortunate enough to know him. Shorty's legacy of kindness and community connection will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
We bid farewell to Steven "Shorty" Foster Turner, not with heavy hearts but with deep gratitude for his presence in our lives, his laughter, his stories, and the unwavering love he bestowed upon us all. The memory of Shorty shall forever be a guiding light, an enduring reminder of the beauty of a life well-lived and well-loved.
