Sue Arthur Obituary

Sue Lynn (Weaver) Arthur, loving wife, mother, granny, great-granny and friend to many passed away peacefully November 4th, 2025, at the age of 88 at Rosewood Assisted Living Community surrounded by loved ones.

Sue was born in Oil City, Louisiana on January 8, 1937, the youngest of Clarence & Gladys Weaver's five children. She arrived in Lewisville in the early 1950's as her father was involved in the construction of the new dam for what is now called Lewisville Lake. After completion of the project, she and her brother, Bill Weaver, remained in the area and graduated from Lewisville High School. Since Interstate 35E had replaced US 77, soon the full corridor would be solidified, making the ideal location to marry and have a family. Both brother and sister did just that.

Sue began carpooling to Dallas with other Lewisville residents to work in the new corporations coming to the area. She met and married Gerald Duwe and eventually had three daughters. Later, she became a real estate agent working at her brother Bill's brokerage, then ventured into the title insurance business.

She married Linwood Leroy Arthur in September of 1975 and formed the Denton County version of the Brady Bunch. Little league games, Friday night football, the surveying business, and 6 kids kept them very busy. She found her passion for playing bridge and collecting antiques, and once she and Linwood retired in 1989 was able to use their motorhome travels to find treasures all across the country for her antique store back home.

Linwood and Sue were also founding members of Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church in Flower Mound. Their involvement in the church remained a significant part of their lives for as long as they were able. Sue was active in several bible studies, quilting group, and their Sunday school class. She also volunteered regularly with the Salvation Army for many years.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Gladys Weaver; sisters, Lyloth Wrigglesworth, Catherine Dunbar, and Wanda Carter; and husband Linwood Arthur.

She is survived by her brother, Bill Weaver; her children, Lori Wilkins (Dave), Bradford Arthur (Rayelynn), Douglas Arthur (Anita), Michael Arthur (Sonya), Jerri Jacobs (Tom), Kristi Frederick (Kelby), 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and 12 nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church (building fund) or to The Salvation Army.
