Sue L. Fritz, 81, of Lititz, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother; passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Luther Acres.
Born in Reading to the late Walter and Effie (Webber) Wagner, Sue was also the loving wife of James S. “Jim” Fritz, with whom she recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. Together she and Jim were a truly united pair, providing a loving example as parents and grandparents.
A 1961 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, Sue’s career spanned multiple roles of service to the community. She worked as a manager of the former First Federal Savings and Loan in Lititz, and later as an activity aid for the United Zion Retirement Community. Her most meaningful position came as secretary for Water Street Mission in Lancaster, where she also volunteered outside of work hours to aid the needy.
An active and faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Lititz, Sue always had a heart for supporting those in her community, also lending volunteer time to the town’s Welcome Center at Lititz Springs Park. She also had a passion for crafting – cross-stitch, crocheting, basket-weaving, woodworking – and often produced special gifts for loved ones, such as homemade Christmas stockings for her children. Sue was also an avid reader and camper, keeping diaries of her road trips and adventures across the country.
In addition to her husband, Jim, she is survived by two sons: Kevin J. Fritz, of Lititz; and David M. Fritz, and his wife, Sarah, of Washougal, WA; and a daughter, Sharon L. Painter, and her husband, Steven, of Lititz. Sue is also survived by six grandchildren: Cody, Kelsey, Nicholas, Grace, Chase and Colin; and three great-grandchildren: Emmanuel, Effie and Avianna. Preceding her in death is a son, Brian Scott Fritz; and a brother, David Wagner.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Sue’s memorial service at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 44 East Orange Street, Lititz, on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 2 p.m. Friends may visit with family at the church from 1 p.m. until the start of the service. Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Sue’s memory to: Water Street Mission, P.O. Box 7508, Lancaster, PA 17604-7508.
