Sue Jean Redner, age 82, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away Sunday morning, January 19, 2025 at her home under the loving care of her family and Corewell Health Hospice. The daughter of Berton James & Dorothy Mae (Bishop) Zinck, she was born on November 3, 1942 in Chelsea, Massachusetts.
On November 9, 1963, at Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, she married Ronald William Redner and together they raised one son, enjoyed 61 years of marriage, and traveled around the world. Sue was active with the Saladin Shriner's Ladies, volunteered at countless Shrine events, fundraisers, and delighted in lending a helping hand at the annual Saladin Shrine Circus for many years. She enjoyed her dogs, collecting eagles and Emmett Kelly, Jr. memorabilia. Sue worked for many years in customer service at Dale Baker Motor Mall, and retired from Harvey Automotive Group.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher Allen Redner; her parents, Berton & Dorothy Zinck; her "extra" parents, William "Bill" & Mary Johnson; parents-in-law, Dewey & Jaunita Bates; and a brother in-law, Gary Redner.
Surviving are her husband, Ron Redner of Grand Rapids; their son, Sean & Marlene Redner; four grandchildren, Stephanie & Travis Wible, Erin & Chris Miller, Michael DePue and his wife, and Noah Redner; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Jody & Ron Graves; a sister-in-law, Julie Redner; special family friends, Jean & Fred Toms, the Pearl Family, and Jamie Kozminski; her Schimperle Drive neighbors and friends; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services are being planned for the spring at Faith Lutheran Church and will be announced later. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery near Battle Creek.
Instead of flowers, Sue would have appreciated contributions in her memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children (https://donate.lovetotherescue.org/).
