Carolyn "Sus" Peden, a beloved wife, mother, and community member, passed away January 20, 2025 at the age of 92, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, Nebraska. Sus was born September 18, 1932 in Curtis, Nebraska, daughter of Carl and Fern (Hecht) Jorgensen.
Sus graduated from Curtis High School in 1950. On June 17, 1951, Sus was united in marriage to Roger Peden in Curtis, Nebraska. Together, they built a loving family, raising two children, Patti and Kirt. Sus's unwavering dedication to her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she shared countless cherished memories with her loved ones.
Sus had a long and fulfilling career, which included working with notable companies such as Gothenburg Aviation, Mycogen, Hallmark, Frito, the Pony Express Station and the Sod House Museum, where she made lifelong friendships and contributed to her community. Outside of her professional life, she was an active member of the Methodist Church for over 75 years, demonstrating her devotion to faith and service. Known for her adventurous spirit, Sus had a love of flying and enjoyed spending time exploring the skies. She was also passionate about china painting, tending to her beautiful flowers, and nurturing the wildlife around her, she loved all her families many cats, and feeding the squirrels and birds. In addition to her hobbies, Sus was an avid fan of both the Cornhuskers and the Kansas City Chiefs, showing a lifelong loyalty to her favorite teams.
Sus is survived by her children, Patti (Mark) Aden, Kirt (Bev) Peden, grandchildren, Jacob (Leah), Alex Peden, great-grandchildren, Hannah Amack, Levi and Dylan Siemering, great-great grandchild Ellie Siemering, forever family friend, Glenn Garrelts, and many nieces and nephews.
Sus was proceeded in death by her husband, Roger, parents, Carl and Fern Jorgensen, brothers, Marvin (Dutch) Jerry (Marlene) Jorgensen, sisters Shirley (Dean) Todd, Beverly (Bill) Benda, in-laws Ward and Susan Peden.
Visitation will be held, Friday, January 24, 2025, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 1:00-7:00 pm, with the family present from 4:00-6:00 pm.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 25, 2025, First Methodist Church, 1401 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, Nebraska with Pastors Grace Gichuru and Robert Litzenberger officiating.
Burial will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Gothenburg Fire Volunteer Fire Department, Banner Church, and First Methodist Church.
