Susan Carol DiCastro passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025 at home with her daughters by her side.
Susan was born April 12,1950 in
the Bronx, NY. She was the daughter of Charles and Catherine Odabashian.
She went to Catholic school in the Bronx until she moved to
Fishkill, NY in 8th grade and attended St. John's School in
Beacon, NY. From there she attended Beacon High School. She got a job as a secretary for the Board of Education on Main Street Beacon through BOCES. She was also a waitress at Charkalis's in Beacon.
After being admitted to the hospital as a young adult, she decided to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She worked for many years at Butterfield Hospital and later continued her career at Fishkill Health Related Center, currently Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. She loved being a nurse's aid and she was great at it! She took great joy in teaching others how to care for their loved ones. It was her true calling. She was awarded CNA of the year and honored with a trip to the Sagamore, one of her greatest accomplishments.
She met William Joseph DiCastro "Alky" at Gallagher's Bar in Beacon and married him on June 10, 1972 at St. John's church. Their wedding reception was at The Bells.
They lived in various homes, but one of Susan's favorites was "The Villa" on Catherine Street in
Beacon, NY, where they spent a lot of time partying with friends.
They eventually moved to Cherrywood Drive in Fishkill, where "Alky", friends and family built our family home. They raised two beautiful daughter's, Gina and Ann Marie.
Susan will be remembered for her loving heart and the incredible mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, Godmother, friend, and caretaker she has always been.
Susan loved her family fiercely! She loved hosting sleepovers for her daughters and their friends, and serving snacks, potato chips, popcorn, Twizzlers, Chips Ahoy Cookies to name a few. We can't forget a Coca Cola with lots of ice!! She loved cooking, her favorites to make were macaroni and meatballs with sauce, Frank's Red Hot buffalo wings, chicken noodle soup, Rice Krispies Treats, Italian cookies and cheesecake. Susan was always up for shopping, especially at Pottery Barn, JJill, Talbots, and TJMaxx. She loved family vacations to Seaside Heights on the Jersey shore, where she could relax on the beach, watch the ocean, and see the carousel, her favorite!
She loved classical music, Andrea Bocelli, Broadway Shows, and The Rockettes! She loved watching her granddaughter, Victoria, play violin and soccer and her granddaughter, Samantha, dance to all genres, especially lyrical and ballet.
Christmas was Susan's favorite time of year! She loved everything about Christmas from putting her tree up way too early, to the perfect ornaments, the music, her favorite song was "The Little Drummer Boy", and the Christmas movies, especially White Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street.
She loved the color green, emeralds, yellow roses, her sparkly jewelry and perfectly wrapped gifts. Gift giving was her love language. She loved hosting every holiday, and having her house packed with family, friends, laughs, great food and so much love!
Most importantly she loved her daughters and her granddaughters. She rarely missed a milestone or event with any of them. She was always right there, supporting, cheering, and being so proud of each of them and they will always love her dearly.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Catherine Odabashian, her sister Joyce Odabashian, her husband William Joseph DiCastro "Alky", along with many other family members and dear friends. Susan is survived by her two daughters, Gina DiCastro Bauer, and Ann Marie DiCastro, and her granddaughters Victoria and Samantha Bauer.
She will be remembered always and deeply missed.
Our family is so grateful for the endless love and support given to us and our mother over the years. There are way too many people to thank, from her family to her closest friends and caretakers. We love and appreciate you from the bottom of our hearts.
We want to thank Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing for the impeccable care given to our mother, with the most incredible staff that loved her so much. Our mom worked there for many years and always found comfort there, especially during these past 3 years. G5 was her home away from home and we always felt safe knowing she was happy and so well cared for.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home in
