Susan Gerding Obituary
She was born Susan Marie Whalen on May 20, 1950, daughter of Daniel Richard and Margaret Culver Whalen. Susan was a graduate of St. George School and Presentation Academy. She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
Although Susan was primarily a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, she enjoyed a variety of employments, most notably the old Expressions Hair Salon and Fern Creek Dental Office.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Abraham Selke; and siblings, Catherine Whalen, Danny Whelen, Janice Fanning, June McAllister, and Peggy Whalen.
Survivors include her husband, Gregory Lambert Gerding; children, Mark Selke (Holly Friel), Brian Selke and Greg Selke; grandchildren, Dylan, Judd, Jett and Meta Selke; sister, Barbara Brocar (Bill); and brother, Tommy Whalen (Sandy).
Memorial service is 6pm Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40291. Visitation is after 2pm that afternoon until the time of the service.

When I heard the news , it broke my heart.. I´m glad I got to sit down with you & barb and just talk for a good hour a month or so back . I´ll hold on to that memory forever . I always love you Susan thank you for everything. Give my mom a hug . Praying for Greg & your whole family

Greg, we are saddened to hear of Susan's passing. She was such a kind soul. I loved how much she enjoyed seeing our dogs on their walks. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I'm so sorry to hear about Susan's passing. She was always so kind and funny with the sweetest smile. I remember visiting her and Greg at their home in special occasions. All the Christmases and New Years eve party's, Derby and birthdays, were made all the more special by seeing her welcoming smile. I remember playing pool with her and Greg at Highview lounge, while we cheered and danced while the local talent sang karaoke. She never had a negative thing to say about anyone and was always so loving and caring. I will always have fond memories of her because she was such a lovely woman. My prayers to all those who knew her because I know, she will be missed dearly. I know, she's in heaven now and probably singing karaoke with my mother Jackie Gerding while they cheer on the angels who watch over us all. Peace and love. Rest in peace Aunt Susan.
