Susan B Goldman

Susan Beth Goldman, 70, of Brewster Massachusetts, died peacefully at home on May 22, 2024, following a long illness. Susan was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Jack and Ruth Edelman in March of 1954. Along with her brother Bennet, Susan was raised to give back to her community and to have a strong sense of right and wrong. A sense she was not shy to share with others.
She married her husband, Lawrence, in 1985 and moved to Norwich, Connecticut where they raised their son, Maxwell. It was in Norwich where Susan put the values she learned from her family into practice. Susan was a long-time employee of the City of Norwich, helping families make their homes safe from lead contamination. She became a leader in her AFSCME local, where she was able to help not only the families of Norwich, but her fellow co-workers.
While her friends and family knew her to be a devoted wife and mother, everyone knew her as a devoted Democrat. She spent countless hours volunteering on behalf of federal, state, and local candidates - serving as office mother to a generation of young political operatives in Eastern Connecticut and across the state. Her dedication to the State Democratic Party earned her a slot as a delegate to the 2016 Democratic National Convention and a Democratic Woman of the year award in 2019. Even at the end of her life Susan remained active, serving as an elected member of the Brewster, MA Democratic Town Committee.
Susan is survived by her husband Lawrence; her son Maxwell and his wife Kelley Anne Carney; and her brother Bennet Edelman and his wife Janet.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 28, at 11:00 am at the Falmouth Jewish Congregation.
