It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Sue Rudolph, who went to be with the Lord on September 26, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on June 2, 1965, Sue was the fifth in a family of six children.
Early Life and Education
Born in Winchester, MA to Alan Nelson and Nancy (Lundquist) Nelson, Sue grew up in Woburn, MA. The family attended the Church of the Open Bible in Burlington, MA and were involved in many ministries. Sue attended public schools through the fifth grade. She began attending Open Bible Academy (the private school at the church) in sixth grade and graduated in 1983. The following year, she completed a one-year Bible course at Burlington Bible Institute. She later took several classes at the local community college while working.
Career and Achievements
Sue had several jobs over the years in areas including health care, elementary education, home day care, retail store management, human resources, and business development management, but her most important and favorite job was being a mom. When asked what her career goals were, she once replied, "I just want to be a great mom". Sue touched lives everywhere she went. A very caring and loving person, she made lasting friendships with people of every age.
Family and Personal Life
Sue's family owned a beach house in Ipswich, MA where many happy memories with siblings, cousins, and friends were made.
Sue met Steve Rudolph while attending Open Bible Academy. They graduated in the same class and began dating shortly after graduation. Sue and Steve married in September 1988 and settled in Bradford, MA where they began their family of four children. They moved to Methuen, MA in 1999 where they resided until Sue's passing.
Sue loved to travel and had been to nearly all the contiguous US states. Her two favorite places for a day trip were the beach and the mountains. She loved planning trips and only needed a hint of a vacation idea, and she began the planning. Disney World was a favorite family destination. Sue was blessed with a beautiful, high soprano voice. She sang in the choir at church as well as solos and ensembles, but was happiest when she was able to sing with her girls. In addition to music ministries, Sue was also involved in children and youth ministries at church over the years.
Sue enjoyed food, both preparing meals and finding new restaurants to try. She could frequently be found streaming food channels.
Sue was a loving mother, both to her own children and those who came to call her mom. She loved and cared for everyone. Many friends of her children and young people she worked with came to think of her as a second mom. Her love was never more evident than when the grandchildren came along. She loved them with such devotion, and they loved her back the same way. Being a Mimi made her life complete.
Sue selflessly cared for her in-laws for five years, providing a loving environment for them to spend their last days.
Legacy and Remembrance
Sue began her battle with cancer in 2015 when she overcame breast cancer. She was cancer free until 2019 when she was diagnosed with lymphoma. Over the next six years, Sue endured four major treatments and many procedures with joy and grace. She was constantly making friends and laughing with nurses and doctors through it all. Having accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at a young age, she trusted in His strength and shared her faith with everyone throughout her illness. Even after making it to remission, Sue battled many side effects and did so with such grace that many had no idea what she continued to battle in recent years. Sue finally succumbed to a major stroke and passed away among family and friends.
Sue is survived by her husband Steve; daughter Krystie, her husband Steve Stonis, and their three children; daughter Stevie and her husband Joshua Miller; son Adam; daughter Andrea. She is also survived by her father Alan and preceded by her mother Nancy Nelson.
A memorial service will be held November 1st at 11:00 AM at Salem Bible Church in Salem, NH.
