Susan J. Schreck, 80, passed away with her family by her side on February 15, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines. A gathering for friends and family will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 2-4pm at Iles Dunn's Chapel, 2121 Grand Avenue, Des Moines.
Susan was born April 14, 1943 in Dyersville, Iowa the daughter of Gregor and Armella (Spoden) Froehle. Her family moved to Des Moines in her early life and she graduated from Des Moines Tech High School (Central Campus). She retired from Power and Telephone Company, where she worked for over 15 years.
Susan enjoyed sewing, reading, crafts, painting, bird watching and crocheting. Her most treasured time was being with her family. She was an active member of The Ancient and Honorable Order of the Turtles. She also enjoyed watching movies and was very dedicated to Wheel of Fortune.
She is survived by her daughters, Deanna Malloy (Tony Biegger) and Christina Schreck both of Des Moines; grandchildren, Caitlyn (Jake) Goeller, Evan (Kenzi) Malloy all of Des Moines, Hanna (Anthony) Dixon of Cedar Rapids and Jeffrey Biegger of Des Moines; great grandson, Grayson Malloy; nieces and nephews, Kim Estelle, Kelly Rivera, Chris Meis and Kurt Meis and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carol Meis.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Special Olympics or the Des Moines Public Library Foundation.
