Susan Simek, 71, of Summit, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Born on December 2, 1953, in the Bronx, NY, Susan was the daughter of Diane and Lazlo Altberger. She lived in Manhattan and Queens before settling in Summit, NJ in 1993.
Susan earned her bachelor's degree from Binghamton University and pursued a successful career in Information Technology, working in the international banking industry.
A woman of many passions, Susan had a deep love for dance-especially tap and ballet and was a member of the New Jersey Tap Dance Organization. Susan also served in public relations as a consultant at the Morristown Museum for 10 years. She was also a gifted writer, recently published for her poetry, and an avid reader with a sharp eye for fashion and a keen interest in pop culture. A true New Yorker at heart, she tackled the New York Times crossword puzzles daily and proudly in ink.
Susan was a two-time breast cancer survivor, embodying strength, grace, and resilience. She was also a certified yoga instructor, sharing her calm and wisdom through teaching.
Above all else, Susan was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, a nurturing mother, and a constant source of encouragement and care. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Robert Simek, and her beloved son, Kenny Simek. She also leaves behind her cherished cats, Toni and Friday, who brought her daily joy. She was predeceased by her parents.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial visitation on Monday, July 7, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave, Summit, NJ. A memorial service will be held during the visitation beginning at 7:30 PM.
