January 6, 2024. Our dear wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend Susana Petty Lao Fa'amausili was heading to her nephews football tournament in Mesquite, NV with her family when their vehicle lost control on black ice. Susana passed away on the scene, while protecting her one year old baby girl.
Susana was born on January 8, 1997 in Sandy, Utah to Heikoti and Mapuana Vea Lao. Her childhood consisted of living in the cities of West Jordan, Sandy, Taylorsville, Glendale, and West Valley City. In 2015 she graduated from Copper Hills High School and in 2017 went on to serve a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Oakland, San Francisco California Mission. After returning home, Susana worked as a CNA and RPM for Intermountain Medical Center, a phlebotomist for Alta View and Lone Peak Hospital. She spent some time exploring other avenues and careers in recent years but has loved being with her family the most.
Susana married her eternal companion, Jonas Hyrum Tavita Fa'amausili. They were sealed for all time and eternity in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple on March 13, 2021.
Susana gave birth to her only child, Vealoloko Manule'oongo Trina Fa'amausili on August 4, 2022. Her life was devoted to being the best mother and wife. She fulfilled that with grace.
Susana loved to support her family. She danced with Ailine's Touch of Polynesia, served for Papa's HuliHuli Chicken and was prepared to progress with Our Family Advocates. All of which are family businesses within her family. Sana was the biggest BYU fan. Though she could never tell you what was going on in a football game, she would always be the loudest one cheering. Sana loved children. She treated all of her nieces and nephews as her own. If the Lord allowed it, Sana would have kept them all to herself. She loved every part of being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. If you had a chance to speak with her, you would walk away knowing her faith and love for the Gospel.
Susana had the biggest and brightest smile. She could catch anyone's attention when she'd walk into a room. Her energy was very contagious. She was loud, an introverted extrovert, and couldn't stop dancing even if she tried. She was the only one her siblings would tolerate an attitude from because she always had a special place in their lives. She always showed up when her family needed her most. She was very outspoken when needed and had no fear in being different from the typical crowd. Defending those she loved was never a surprise. She was always an advocate for the underdog in any situation. Susana's personality would attract all kinds of people all over the world and she embraced every part of it. This is a tough loss for her family and friends, Susana will be greatly missed.
Susana is survived by her husband Jonas Hyrum Tavita Fa'amausili and her daughter Vealoloko Manule'oongo Trina Fa'amausili, parents Heikoti and Mapuana Lao; her siblings Latu(Tiane), Manule'oongo(LaMarcus), Lemiuela(Lolofi), Kulaea and Meilani; nephews Lemiuela, Talikivaha
and Seali'itele. Many relatives on both her Mother and Fathers side as well as her in laws.
She was preceded in death by her Father in law Tavita Ofa Fa'amausili, Her grandparents Luseane Kalaneti Pasi, Amoni Vea, Mele Kulaea Havili Lao and Sateki Lao.
