Sylvester Martinez Carnevale passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born in San Antonio, on July 23, 1943, to Sylvester R. and Eufemia (Martinez) Carnevale.

A proud Airforce veteran, Sylvester dedicated his early years to serving his country. He carried this sense of duty into his civilian life as a firefighter and paramedic, always ready to lend a hand and make the world a safer place. Those who knew him will fondly remember his quick wit and enduring sense of humor. He was a jokester and always ready with a clever quip that could light up the room.

Sylvester's true passions were rooted in the great outdoors. A devoted life-long member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), he shared his love for classic cars, horses and the ranch life with anyone who would listen. He cherished moments spent saltwater fishing with grandkids in tow and dove and deer hunting, and always found wearing his beloved boots and jeans, and surrounded by the beauty of nature. His barn was not just a place for his horses but a gathering spot where friends came to share stories, dreams, and, of course, their latest horse tales.

Sylvester found immense joy in watching his son, Little Silver and grandson, Randall, along with his granddaughter Arden, pulling chutes and pushing steers as they showcased their skills in the roping arena. His gatherings were memorable, often filled with laughter and the camaraderie of those he loved dearly.

He was devoted in love and life to his beautiful, intelligent wife, Sidney. Together they built their foundation and love for horses. They created together 4S Quarter Horses. Never apart, always together.

Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Salvatierra and Margaret "Margie" Hinojosa and husband, Erasmo; and brothers, Michael R. Carnevale and Anthony "Tony" Carnevale.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sidney Carnevale; daughter, Sharon Carnevale; son, Little Silver Carnevale (Rachel Stolte); grandchildren, Randall Trevino (Christa), Arden Grace Trevino, granddaughter by heart, Madison McDonald, Buster Joe Carnevale, and Sonny Wade Carnevale; great-grandchild, Martin "Marty" Sylvester Trevino; sisters-in-law, Lamian Carnevale and Karen Carnevale; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

To celebrate Sylvester's vibrant life and legacy, funeral services will be held at Hurley Funeral Home on Sunday, November 23, 2025, starting with a visitation from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm with a funeral service at 2:30 pm. Services will conclude at the end of visitation.
