Sylvia Jurczak (nee Domin) passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024 after a decade's long battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at 91 years of age with her loving children by her side.
Born and raised in West Hazleton, Pennsylvania she moved with her family to Kearny N.J. and graduated from Kearny High School in 1951. Soon after graduating, she worked as a secretary for the Radio Corporation of America (RCA.) Sylvia also worked for the Otis Elevator Corporation where she met her future husband Joseph. They married in 1959 and settled in Roselle Park. Five years later they bought a home in Mountainside where they raised two sons. Sylvia worked for many years at Bell Laboratories/Lucent Technologies before retiring in 1995.
Besides her most important role as Mom, classroom Mom, sports Mom, cub scout Den Mother, she was a member of the Foothill Club and a life member of the Pioneers, formerly known as the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Sylvia loved spending time with her family and friends especially her children and grandchildren. She loved to laugh, had a quick wit and a sense of humor that was uniquely Sylvia's. She truly valued her friendship with her dearest friend Sally Kempner.
Sylvia lived a full and meaningful life. She was fiercely independent and lived her life on her own terms. When her husband's health was failing, she showed true love and devotion by taking care of him until his passing.
Sylvia was predeceased by her husband of sixty-five years Joseph, her father William Domin and mother Anna Levash, her brother George Domin, and a step-father Philip Levash.
She was the loving mother of Stephen and his wife Linda, Stewart and his wife Kelly. Loving grandmother to her cherished grandchildren; Stephen Jr. and his wife Heidie Beyer, Matthew, Cailyn, and Kara as well as many loving relatives and friends.
