Synthia Lynn Montoya, lovingly known as Syndi, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at the age of 59. She was born on June 6, 1966, in Ogden, Utah, where she spent most of her life surrounded by family, friends, and the community she loved. Though Ogden was home, Syndi had a curious heart and a love for adventure that led her to travel and experience many places throughout her life.
Syndi is survived by her daughter Megan Johnson (Dustin); her mother Lita Wright (Stephen); her sister Gina Vanderwoude; and her brothers Ron Montoya (Lisa) and Danny DeHerrera (Brie). She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Jonathan McBride; her father Rufino Montoya; three precious babies she lost before birth; and two cherished grandchildren who were gone too soon, all of whom now rest with her in Heaven.
Syndi will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her sense of humor, and the warmth she brought into every room. She had a gift for making people feel loved and seen, whether through her laughter, her honesty, or her unwavering support for those she cared about. Her adventurous soul, kind heart, and strong will made her unforgettable to all who were lucky enough to know her.
Her legacy will live on through the memories she created, the love she gave, and the family who will carry her spirit forward every day.
