Tabitha Renee Fulks Bouranis

Tabitha Renee Fulks Bouranis, 43, of Hoover, Alabama passed away on Sunday, December 8th, 2024 after a brief struggle with kidney cancer. Tabitha was a phenomenal mother, friend, sister, daughter, and teacher. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and students who cherished and loved her.
Tabitha is preceded in death by her mother Pamela Gentry, and grandparents Roma & Evelyn McDowell and Wade & Mary Ann Fulks.
She is survived by her son, Roma Bouranis, father Jim (Susan) Fulks, sister Katie Fulks, aunt Kelly Colbourne and cousins Olivia and George, uncle Allen Fulks and cousins Heather and Allison, great aunts Sharon Hardy Kull and Donna Troncale, and her dog Max.
Tabitha was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina and moved to Alabama shortly after she was born. She grew up in Alabaster and graduated from Thompson High School, and went on to the University of Montevallo, where she received a scholarship for Voice and Theatre to pursue a degree in Fine Arts. Tabitha will be remembered for her beautiful voice and talent in performing, which earned her a reputation on campus at Montevallo before she even arrived, as well as nominations for acting awards.
After graduating from Montevallo, Tabitha moved to New York City where she began a career in retail which allowed her to travel all over the United States from New York City to West Palm Beach to Nashville, and eventually back home to Alabama, where she discovered that her real passion was teaching. She pursued a degree in education, working nights and weekends to earn her Master's Degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University.
In 2010, while living in Nashville, Tabitha's son Roma was born, bringing a quiet humor into Tabitha's life. He has been a blessing to Tabitha's life as well as her family's. She loved him selflessly, and even at her hardest moments, she thought only of him.
She loved to play wiffle ball in the local rec league in Bluff Park, where she gained friendships and a community that has supported her and her family so much. She loved to sing and perform, travel to the beach, watch Friends, and loved to celebrate Christmas with her family and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home beginning at 9:00 am, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am.
