Tad Chalfant, was born on April 18, 1956 in Michigan.
He is survived by his wife Lili, his sisters Sherry and Terri, his brother Jim, and his nieces and nephews. Tad was a loving husband, brother, and uncle. He was also a loving step-father, step-grandfather and brother-in-law. Although Tad never had children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews.
Tad loved Lili - and he loved her 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren just like they were his own. The grandchildren always gravitated to Tad - sitting with him to watch sports, or play games, or horse play, or just talk. They considered Tad their 3rd grandpa. Tad was a silent cheerleader to Lili's daughters and their children.
In his younger life, he loved roller coasters. Ariel and Shaun, Tad's oldest niece and nephew went on several trips with Tad and Jim to "ride the rides". It was a special time for them with fond memories.
Tad's school years were spent on military bases throughout the country, the last being in Tampa. He was the oldest of four siblings. Jim, the youngest of the siblings considered Tad more of a father to him than his real father was. They lived together for a time as adults and bought a home together.
Tad and his sister Sherry, had a special bond. They were the ones to plan the itinerary of 37 cruises, while Lili and Jon, their spouses, just wanted to know when to pack.
Tad enjoyed life. He dabbled in theater production, music, cars, and sports - especially hockey and football. He had a great fondness of Hard Rock Cafes - and has an extensive collection of Hard Rock shot glasses from around the world.
Tad did extensive traveling working as a software developer. He traveled to Hawaii, The Netherlands, Portugal, Denmark, Japan, and South Africa. He has also vacationed in Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Tad was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, and faced his illness with courage and determination to live his life to the fullest.
"Say not in grief 'he is no more' but in thankfulness that he was and may his memory be a blessing"
Services for Tad will take place on Sunday, January 12, 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Largo, Florida.
