Mr. Terrence Alyn Beetle

Terrence (Terry) Alyn Beetle, age 77, passed away at his home in San Luis Obispo
on October 21, 2023 after a valiant fight with kidney disease.
Terry was born in Ventura, CA. He grew up in Oxnard, graduating from Oxnard
High School in 1964, and was voted "cutest boy" in his senior class. While attending
Ventura College, he worked at the Mobil gas station where he would meet his future
wife Kathryn. In 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in South
Ruislip, England. Terry and Kathryn made plans to marry and she soon joined him
in England, where they lived for nearly three years. Upon his discharge and return
to Oxnard, he resumed studying at Ventura College and, in 1972, was accepted into
Cal Poly's Architecture program.
While working for Newell Construction in 1976, he discovered he enjoyed
building more than designing. This experience led him to become a licensed general
contractor. In 1986, he joined Maino Construction Company, Inc. where he worked
for over 25 years as a project manager, overseeing a major expansion of Marian
Hospital in Santa Maria, and as an estimator. He always appreciated the
opportunity Mike Maino offered to him and was deeply saddened by his passing.
After leaving Maino Construction, Terry obtained a LEED APB+C certification in
design and construction phases of green building and, in 2013, he transitioned into
consulting with Professional Associates Construction Services, providing support to
building projects along the Central Coast and Central Valley.
Terry was a dedicated parent volunteer for the San Luis Obispo Swim Club for
many years, serving as president and operating the timing system at local swim
meets. He helped at Special Olympics during soccer season. He was an avid
gardener who especially enjoyed orchids, cacti, succulents, and air plants. He was
a huge fan of professional soccer, especially Liverpool, following and rooting for
them ever since his time in England.
Terry is survived by his wife Kathryn of fifty-six years; their three children, Ian
Beetle, Leah (Jeffrey) Graybill, and Nicholas Beetle; grandsons Wyatt and Nolan
Graybill; his sister, Anne Ruscher; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded
in death by his father and mother, Morris and Phyllis Willis.
