TERRY MELTON
Willard Terry Melton age 77, passed away December 18, 2024, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born May 9, 1947, to the union of Willard Clarence and Hattie Clay Harrington Melton.
He attended Chester County High School in Henderson, having graduated in May 1965. He married Brenda McAdams on September 16, 1966.
He joined the U.S. AirForce in June 1965. After basic training in San Antonio, TX and tech school in Amarillo, TX he was assigned to Elmerdurf AR-B in Anchorage, Alaska for two years. He finished his four-year term with the OSI in Washington, DC and was honorably discharged on June 8, 1971.
He was a truck broker/dispatcher for fifty-one years with thirty-six of that was with Vouk Truck Brokerage Transportation in North Little Rock, AR, retiring on September 29, 2016.
He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Reagan, TN He was ordained into the Deacon Ministry on May 8, 2005.
He was an avid sports fan. He loved to teach and coach youth basketball and baseball. He loved to fish and spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Hattie Clay Melton.
Mr. Melton is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Brenda, two children, Teri Jean Melton Vaughn (James) and Christopher Scott Melton (Regina); four grandchildren, Kirsti Erin Desizlets Johnston (Barry), Brianna Vaughn Elkins (Tate), Bailey Melton Shaver (Cole), Noah Melton.
Six great grandchildren, Allison Elkins, Bryson Elkins, Ezra Johnston, Amelia Johnston, Iris Johnston, Riley Kate Shaver.
One brother, Jerry Melton (Bobbie) and two very special friends, Larry Mengos and Floyd Litton.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with burial to follow at Unity Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends at East Main Chapel 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday.
