Terry Lynn Schomberg passed away on May 30, 2025, surrounded by his family at the age of 75. He was born on December 10, 1949, to parents Henry and Erna (Krause) Schomberg and grew up on the family farm near Pierce, Nebraska.
Terry graduated from Pierce High School in 1968 and studied at Norfolk Junior College, Wayne State College, and finally the University of Nebraska, where he received two master's degrees. During his college years, he met and married the love of his life, Garnett (Klug) Schomberg, on September 30, 1972. Together they moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where they had their sons, John and Chris, then on to Parkville, Missouri, and finally to the Houston Area, where, after several moves, he was most recently living in Montgomery, Texas, north of Houston. Through the years, he worked at Shawnee Mission Hospital, Rice University, with his wife at their Armstrong McCall in Pearland, and finally at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center until his retirement in 2019.
Terry and Garnett, in many ways, could not be more different, yet they balanced one another, marched to the beat of their own drum, and shared a wonderful life together until her passing in 2000. They loved one another and their boys and gave them a childhood filled with love, adventures, and stability that allowed them to grow, flourish, marry amazing wives, and start families of their own.
After retiring in 2019, Terry devoted himself to his four grandchildren, Dexter, Lucy, Keziah, and Ezri. They were the light of his life, and he showered them with love. His gentle, kind, and patient nature made him a beloved figure in their lives. His grandchildren hold dear the memories of the many ways he enriched their lives, from special events and vacations to his shared love of bubbles.
Terry's faith was a cornerstone of his life. A lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, he served on various tech teams and in leadership roles. His unwavering trust in God and his commitment to his church community were evident in his actions and inspired many.
Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Garnett, and parents, Hank and Erna. He is survived by his two sons and their families: John and Takara, with children Keziah and Ezri, and Chris and Forest, with children Dexter and Lucy.
What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.
