Obituary published on Legacy.com by Metropolitan Funeral Service - Granby Chapel on Jan. 27, 2026.
Terry Gerard Williams was born on September 20, 1954, to the late Ernest and Elsie Williams. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Ernest T. Williams Jr., and his beloved wife and soulmate, Greer Williams. If heaven has a reunion hall, Terry has already found his people, taken a seat, and likely told a joke before anyone could ask how he got there.
A proud Norfolk native, Terry attended Booker T. Washington High School in
Norfolk, Virginia, before answering the call to serve his country. In 1974, at the age of 20, he joined the United States military, completing a brief but honorable period of service before receiving an honorable discharge, an experience that helped shape his discipline, independence, and work ethic throughout his life.
In 1975, Terry welcomed his first child into the world, his daughter Tahicia "Tasha" Tucker of Owings Mills, Maryland. Fatherhood was one of Terry's most meaningful roles, and he embraced it with love, humor, and lessons that will continue to guide generations.
Several years later, Terry met the love of his life, Greer Williams. Together they built a life rooted in love, partnership, and devotion, and welcomed a son, Terry Almod Williams of Atlanta, Georgia, affectionately known as "Doumpy." (No one is entirely sure how this nickname came to be, but it stuck.) In 1986, Terry and Greer entered holy matrimony and shared 29 years of marriage until Greer's untimely passing in 2015, a loss that forever lived in Terry's heart.
Professionally, Terry devoted 32 years and 10 months of faithful service to the federal government, a career marked by consistency, integrity, and pride in a job well done. His final position was serving as a Material Handler in Logistics at the Naval Air Station in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was responsible for tracking all inbound freight and ensuring each item was entered into the system accurately and efficiently. Terry's attention to detail, reliability, and strong work ethic were evident in everything he did, contributing to his department passing every audit with an outstanding 98–100% accuracy rate time after time.
It was during his federal service that Terry formed a lifelong friendship with his manager, Mr. Leon Carter. Mr. Carter took Terry under his wing, mentoring him and supporting him not only in the workplace but beyond it as well. The Williams family extends heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Leon Carter for the years of guidance, friendship, and unwavering support he provided Terry until the very end.
Terry was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather who found immense joy in his family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his grandchildren, Jonicia Tucker of Owings Mills, Maryland, and Jonathan Tucker Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia, as well as his great-granddaughter, Santana Suez-Blaze Tucker of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Terry will be remembered for his humor, his unmistakable personality, his strong work ethic, and his deep love for family. He lived life on his own terms, and those who knew him best appreciated him for exactly who he was.
Terry leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Tahicia "Tasha" Tucker of Owings Mills, Maryland; his loving son, Terry Almod Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; his sisters, Ivy Williams and Millicent Williams of
Norfolk, Virginia; his brother, Sterling Williams of
Norfolk, Virginia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever carry his spirit with them.
Terry Gerard Williams transitioned from this life on January 26, 2026, but his legacy lives on through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love that remains. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
