Funeral services for Thelma Elaine Custar will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Thelma Elaine Custar was born January 17, 1935, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Lee and Gertrude (Wilson) Henshaw. She passed away July 15, 2025, in Okemah at the age of 90.
Mrs. Custar was a lifelong resident of Okemah. She and Paul A. Custar were married December 24, 1952, in Okemah. Mrs. Custar worked as a medical aid for the nursing homes in Okemah for 32 years. She and her husband operated a vegetable farm that has been in the Custar family for generations. Mrs. Custar enjoyed attending church, crocheting, gardening, helping with church dinners, and she especially loved family holidays.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 infant daughter, Danielle, 3 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Sam, and Micah, and one son-in-law, Richard Hopper.
Survivors include 2 sons, David and wife Debbie of Okemah and Rickey and wife Kathy of Perkins. She is also survived by one daughter, Paula Hopper of Glencoe, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be A. P. Custar, Daniel Custar, Junior Opela, Carl Arbuckle, Cody Arbuckle, and Austin Custar.
Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Tippery, Daniel Tippery, Gideon Tippery, Owen Custar, Cameron Hopper, Avery Opela, Colton Arbuckle, Collin Arbuckle, and Conner Arbuckle.
A special thanks to Colonial Park Nursing and their staff for their loving care of Mrs. Custar the past couple of years.
Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, with Pastor Colton Arbuckle officiating.
