Mrs. Thelma "Jimmie" I. Heckert, age 81, of Salem, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025 at Baptist Floyd Hospital in New Albany.
Born February 26, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Heckert was the daughter of Lloyd Nuszbaum and Allie Smelser Nuszbaum.
On April 21, 1962, she married Charles "Chuck" E Heckert.
She was a member of the Monroe Church of Christ. She worked as a Nurse Assistant.
Jimmie had an animated personality and was a big Ohio State fan. She loved collecting, sewing, crocheting and had a gift for decorating cakes.
Mrs. Heckert is survived by her husband, Chuck. One daughter, Rosanna Bihn (Bob) of Toledo, Ohio. Two sons, Charles T. Heckert (Daisy Dooley) of Kirksville, Missouri and Chad E. Heckert of Toledo, Ohio. Three grandchildren, Zachary Elliott, Diana Heckert, and Eric Heckert.
She was preceded in death by one brother, John Richard Nuszbaum and one sister Irean Ayers.
Funeral Services will be held at Southern Hills Church on Wednesday, April 2 at 12:00PM. Visitation will be from 10AM untili time of service.
There will also be a service on Friday, April 4, at 11:00AM at Freck Funeral Home, in Oregon, Ohio, with visitation from 4PM-8PM on Thursday and from 9AM until time of service on Friday.
In lieu of Flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions can be made to Outside the Walls. www.outsidethewallswashco.org
