Theodore ("Ted") K. Alexopoulos passed away on November 8, 2024, at the age of 92 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on September 24, 1932, in Tripolis, Greece, to Kyriakos Alexopoulos and his adoring and beloved mother, Eleni ("Lela") Christodoulopoulos.
Ted's early years were shaped by his time in Greece and his service in the Greek Army. After completing his military duty, he traveled to the United States on a student visa to pursue higher education. He enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh, where fate would bring him together with Varda, a fellow student from Israel. The two quickly formed a deep connection and married in 1960. They also became U.S. citizens together, embarking on a journey that would span decades and bring them across the globe.
Ted and Varda were blessed with three children, and together they built a life full of love, adventure, and joy, living in Greece and in the United States. Ted's career as an electrical engineer took him to the far corners of the earth, as he worked with major companies in the oil and gas industry. His expertise in instrumentation for oil rigs helped shape the industry, and his professional journey saw him living and working in many countries, including Mexico, where he and Varda spent several years.
Throughout his life, Ted was known for his unwavering positivity and infectious joviality. He was the rock of his family, always caring for his loved ones with dedication and love. Ted had a particular passion for cooking, and he often delighted in preparing meals for his family and friends. His home was always open to those he cared about, and his generous spirit and warm heart will be remembered by all who knew him.
Ted was not only a talented professional but also an extraordinary father and grandfather. He remained a constant source of love, support, and wisdom for his children and grandchildren throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and unshakable optimism.
Ted is survived by his daughter Helen Greenberg of Katy, Texas; daughter, Ayala Hassell of Frisco, Texas; son, Kenneth Alexopoulos of Jenks, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jared, Kyle, Amanda, Madeline and Theo; sister, Doly Tsangos of Athens, Greece, and a host of other loving family and friends in Greece, Israel, and the United States.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Varda Alexopoulos, and his parents, Kyriakos and Eleni Alexopoulos.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

Ted was the nicest, funniest, intelligent man I think I have ever met. He could talk on almost any subject and seemed to know a great deal about any subject you wanted to talk about. You could tell he had traveled all over the world and had enjoyed raising his children and grandchildren because they were the light of his life. From the day we met to his passing he treated Sandra and I like we were his children also. Sometimes I had a little trouble understanding his speech because of his accent and how fast he talked, I would say "now give that again" and he knew he had talked to fast for me to understand and he would go back over what he had just said, and I could understand what he was saying. A truly great man in every way. Sandra and I will always miss you. Your friend Gary Hassell
