Theodore "Ted" E. Micke, age 91, of Cloquet, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, at his home. He was born February 19, 1933, in Cloquet, the son of Theodore and Albena (Demers) Micke. Ted graduated from Our Lady of Sacred Heart School, Cloquet Sr. High School in 1951, and the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1953 until January of 1956. Ted was united in marriage to Mary Irene Brunner on April 28, 1956. He worked at 1st National Bank in Cloquet for 25 years. Founded Reliable Insurance Agency in October 1974 and went on to start over 13 Reliable Agencies. Ted was part owner of City National Bank, a member of Cloquet JC's, Cloquet Chamber of Commerce, and Cloquet Kiwanis Club, and Toastmasters. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Albena and Theodore W. Micke; and his siblings, Roderick Micke, Tom Micke, Elaine Paquette, Janet Beck, and JoAnn O'Brien. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary "Irene" Micke; children, Steven Micke, Brian (Jackie) Micke, Julie (Michael) Sweere, Linda (Fred) Hanson, Karen (Randy) McMillen, Theresa (Chris) Mostoller and Jennifer (Darell) Sweet; grandchildren, Andy Micke (Rae), Robyn (Adam) Caskey, April (Chad) Alberg, Joshua (Nicole) Sweere, Kelly (Drew) Kluzak, Jessica (Nick) Houle, Katie McMillen (Dustin), Giles (Ricki) McMillen, Matthew McMillen (Elise), Anna Mostoller, Gavin Mostoller (Maddie), Jacob Mostoller, Tristan (Alyssa) Sweet, Mason Sweet (Megan), and Ella Sweet; great-grandchildren, Easton Kluzak, Mackenzie Kluzak, Hunter Houle, Holly Houle and Theodore Sweere; sister, Sister Pauline Micke, OSB; brothers-in-law, Bill (Lorraine) Brunner, David (Kathy) Brunner, Chuck O'Brien, and Clayton Beck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their special thanks to Bobbie, Cheryl, Amy, and Carrie for the wonderful care given to our dad. Also special thanks to the nurses at St. Croix Hospice.
Visitation will be Friday, May 17, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. The visitation will resume on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet. Interment service will follow at New Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Luncheon and a time of fellowship will follow at the church social hall.
Remembrances may be made through contributions to Queen of Peace School or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
