Al's hobby was work. He loved to work. Al did at one time play golf, and he also enjoyed playing the guitar. He enjoyed going to Darryl Starbird Car Shows, where he showed off his 1966 Ford Galaxy convertible. Al enjoyed mowing the lawn and trimming his hedge. He even took the mower for a little ride down the road to the Valero station just to visit after his pickup keys had been taken away from him. He was an Oklahoma State Cowboy fan and enjoyed watching the Oklahoma Sooners also. Al was a Dallas Cowboy fan and attended some games in Dallas. He enjoyed NASCAR. Al would go to Thunder Valley in Noble to watch his son, Al Jr. race his car. Al enjoyed building guns and carving the stocks. He carved a Carbine to look like a shark. Al enjoyed watching Fox News, Jimmy Swaggart, The Beverly Hillbillies and sports. He had to watch Gunsmoke and Wheel of Fortune every night. Al enjoyed listening to George Jones sing.
Al heard his country call and served in the united stated Navy where he received an Honorable Discharge for service. Rendered to his country when called upon to do so.
Al was employed by Standard Life Insurance Company as an Insurance Agent. He left the Insurance business and became owner and operator of Wilco Enterprises, which was made up of a chain of gas stations and truck stops in Oklahoma and Texas. Then Al became a sheetrock stocker and transported sheetrock to the job sites. He also became owner and operator of two car salvage yards which were Britton Road Salvage and Old Henry's. Al then opened WW Trucking and ARA Enterprise which was a reloading yard. He was the first to open a reloading yard in Oklahoma City. Al was also owner and operator of ANC Trucking and Demolition. Al Jr. said his dad was always happy and very sociable. Chad said, his dad never met a stranger and always had time for a cup of coffee with friends. Al was always on the go. Michael said, he could never keep up with his dad he was always going ninety to nothing. And it was nothing for him to be going down a dirt road at 70 miles an hour and the only way you knew he was on that dirt road would be to see the dust he had left behind. If you were working and cut your finger and needed to get stitches, Al would say put a band aid on it you will be okay. Accidents and illness never slowed Al down. When he was a kid he had Scarlett fever, he tumbled into the root cellar on his head, he was accidentally shot by his brother and had too many accidents loading and unloading trucks to count. Al escaped death on many occasions.
Al and Nancy enjoyed going to dinner every Wednesday and Saturday night and they also enjoyed going to the movies. His favorite restaurants was Cimarron Steakhouse and Madison's.
Al would attend all of Chad's sporting events and his grandchildren's events and filmed them all. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Al was proud of his family, and he loved family get togethers and enjoyed filming family functions.
Al's first love was his Lord and Savior and he never hesitated to tell people about it; and being with his wife, Nancy. He loved working and spending time with family. Because he knew no stranger Al touched the lives of many from Oklahoma and Texas. He had a genuine personality. Al will be missed by all who knew him.
