RICHMOND, IN– Thomas H. Charlton, age 81, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Reid Health.
Born February 2, 1944, in Franklin, Kentucky, to Harold O. and Lolita B. Bush Charlton, Thomas lived most of his life in this community. He was in the last graduating class of Greens Fork High School in 1962 and retired from Dana Corp. after 35 years of service. Thomas later worked for Elevator Equipment and Marsh in the meat department. He was an avid bowler at the local, state, and national levels and achieved 8 perfect 300 games and 2 series of 800. Thomas was inducted into the Wayne County USBC Hall of Fame in 2012. He also loved to go on golf trips with his friends. Thomas enjoyed watching his great nieces and nephews in their ball games and dance recitals.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Caudle Charlton; children, Melissa (Ray) Gallant, Phillip Charlton, and Tina Cox; grandchildren, Patrick, Victoria, and Laura; sister, Patsy Tharp; sister-in-law, Brenda Caudle; mother-in-law, Katherine Caudle, nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nancy Charlton, Caroline Oakes Littrel, and Sue Ann Ridge; grandsons, Shayne and Kyle; brothers-in-law, Ralph Tharp, TJ Oakes, Jerry Ridge, David Caudle; and father-in-law, Earl Caudle.
The family would like to thank Reid Home Healthcare staff for their excellent care and special caregivers, Elaine, Jill, and Melissa.
Graveside service for Thomas H. Charlton will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2025, at Crown Hill Cemetery, 407 Short Street, Centerville, Indiana.
