Thomas John Clark, 86, of Port Huron, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, peacefully, smiling while surrounded by love in his home with family at his side.
Thomas was born on December 16, 1938, in Sarnia, Ontario, to the late James Joseph Clark and Marie Margaret Blundy of Sarnia.
He left home at the age of 15 to pursue his career in OHA hockey with the Peterborough Petes. In Peterborough, he met and married his first wife, Carol Gledhill, having a son and daughter. He later married Sharon Danhausen of Port Huron and had twin daughters. Through this marriage, he gained another son and daughter.
Tom continued to travel for hockey and started his many years of entrepreneurship. He was active in Real Estate, renovating many acquired buildings, opened Midas Muffler franchises, owning 9 total businesses throughout Port Huron and the Detroit Metro area. He was awarded the Midas Muffler National Dealer of the Year multiple times, with the first in 1981.
Tom had a passion for his community by preserving buildings downtown, coaching and sponsoring hockey, with his career ending as co-owner, partnering with his son-in-law, Dale McDonald of Main Street Garage in Downtown Port Huron.
Hockey was spanned through his lifetime playing for teams such as the Waterloo Siskins, Peterborough Petes, Clinton Comets, Washington Presidents, Indianapolis Chiefs, Chatham Maroons, Port Huron Flags, and Sarnia Old Timers. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame for various teams. Tom was an avid extreme skier and spent many weekends skiing the mountains with special friends. Tom shared a passion of horses with his sister and brother-in-law. He purchased his own award-winning harness racing horses.
He later met Margo Mathers where they filled their years of retirement together, enjoying seasons in Naples, Florida, where they golfed with many wonderful and close friends. Summers were spent at their beach home and at Port Huron Golf Club where Tom served two terms as president.
Tom was the most generous and kind-hearted person. He made people feel welcomed and cared for in the simplest most genuine ways. His smile and humor lit up the room.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margo; two children, Scott and Kristine McLeod; four beloved sisters, Theresa, Joanne, Elizabeth, and Rose Mary.
