Thomas H. Duffer

Thomas Harding Duffer, age 84, passed away Friday May 30, 2025 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The Hodgenville, Kentucky native was the son of the late Leo Duffer and Gladys Hargan Duffer and husband of the late Rebecca Kargle Duffer.
Thomas was a graduate of the Hodgenville High School Class of 1958, where he played basketball, after high school he earned a scholarship to play basketball at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville TN and graduated with a BS degree. He continued his education at WKU where he earned his Masters Degree in Education.
He served in the United States Peace Corps traveling to several countries with his training starting at the University of Hawaii where he earned a Diploma in Indonesian and was transferred to Jakarta, Indonesia. He then served in Casablanca, Morocco and earned an Advanced Diploma in French from the University of Morocco. He also was a basketball player with the Champions of Morocco International Basketball team competing across many countries in Europe.
He taught in Larue county Kentucky and with the Bowling Geen Independent Schools. The majority of his teaching career was with the Warren County Schools at Warren East High School where he was the JV Mens Basketball Coach and Golf Coach.
He was an avid trap-shooter winning several KY State Trap Shoot titles. He also enjoyed playing pool several times a week. He had an extensive knowledge of stamps and coins that spanned many decades of collecting. He was deeply interested the history of cultures, people and languages of the world, yet his most favorite place on earth was Hodgenville, KY.
Thomas is survived by his two daughters, Glenn Ellen Duffer and Sarah Thomas Duffer and one granddaughter, Sydney Eryn Duffer.
Visitation will be Tuesday June 3, 2024 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
Graveside Service will be Wednesday June 4, 2025 at 12:00 PM EST at the Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville, Kentucky.
