Thomas C. Garretson passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2010. He was born on June 29, 1950 in Oakland, CA. He grew up in Minneapolis, MN and became a resident of Naples in 2002. Tom never met a stranger and all who knew, lived with and loved him were better for it. He always had a smile on his face and laughter to share. He had a wonderful voice and knew the words to all the songs. Tom had a passion for football, and watching his beloved Minnesota Vikings, was his favorite pastime. Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing beginning as a boy in Minnesota. He worked as an acute dialysis nurse and was known as a consummate professional who was excellent at caring for his patients with skill and compassion. He had great respect and admiration for the professionals he worked with as did they for him. Tom was an Army Veteran, having served his country proudly and honorably in Vietnam. His family was the most important thing in his life. He will be forever missed and loved, always in our hearts.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Brenda Garretson; his children, Todd (Michelle) Almquist, Tracy (Chris) Tschida, Tyler Wilson and Whitney Wilson; his sister, Patty (John) Laub; his grandchildren, Tryniti and Jordan Almquist, Tori and Carter Tschida and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Thursday, (TOMORROW) October 28, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 3000 Orange Blossom Drive.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends in Minnesota at a future date.
