Thomas Monroe "Tom" Gearhart

Thomas Monroe Gearhart, affectionately known as Tom, passed away on December 2, 2023, in Crossville, Tennessee. He was born to (predeceased)Shirley Barron Gearhart and Albert Gearhart on September 13, 1958, in Akron, Ohio.
Tom was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, class of 1976, and went on to pursue his passion for politics and history at Akron University. He graduated in 1980 with his degree in Political Science. He furthered his education by earning his law degree at John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois.
Tom stayed in the Chicago area where he met Linda and married. He practiced law for various law firms, and even headed up his own firm for a bit. Even though he and Linda(Sinyard)ended their marriage, they remained friends.
Although it took him away from his girlfriend Sandee, Tom retired in 2022 and moved to Crossville, Tennessee to pursue his other passion of playing golf. Tom loved golf. He loved watching and playing. He annually participated in the world golf amateur in Myrtle Beach Florida. He also loved to follow pro golf and went to a number of major golf tournaments. This past year he completed his grand slam when he attended the British Open at Royal Liverpool in Liverpool England.
Tom also loved Ohio State Football. He was a dedicated Buckeye fan and watched all their games.
Tom is survived by his brother Bill, sister-in-law Patsy, their children Zak, and Sarah, Sarah's husband Danny Vanderbilt and their child Lincoln. Also his sister (predeceased) Denise's children Matthew Isbell, Allison and husband Matthew Petranic, and their children Mason and Logan, his Uncle Ron Barron and his girlfriend Sandee Butz.
Tom chose cremation, the followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life may be held at a later date.
