Thomas James Hainey, 65, a resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. He was the longtime companion of Suzann M. Peterson. Son of Rita M. (O'Brien) Hainey of Brockton and the late Walter J. Hainey, he was born in Cambridge and raised in Brockton. Tom was a graduate of Brockton High School. He was an auto body mechanic in the area for many years before retiring more than a year ago. He was a talented artist who enjoyed painting. Tom was the brother of Jason R. Hainey of Brockton, Rhonda J. Ek of East Bridgewater and the late Walter "James" Hainey, Jr. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services private. Donations in Tom's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
