Thomas G. Hunt, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and a faithful servant of God, was called home to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at the age of 76. He was a man of unshakable faith, boundless love, and steadfast integrity. Thomas lived a life that radiated honor, truth, and devotion to his family, friends, and his Lord.
Thomas was born July 23, 1949, in High Point, NC, to Tobias and Mary Sue Hunt. Tom was born 6th of eight siblings and was a beloved brother to: Jeannette Stroud (Roland Stroud), Beatrice Ward (Paul Ward), Troy Hunt (Cathy Hunt), John Hunt (Debra Hunt), James Hunt (Debra Hunt), Frank Hunt (Priscilla Hunt), and Ginger Hedrick (Eddie Hedrick), sharing a lifetime of memories and unbreakable bonds.
Thomas served his country with immense pride as a Vietnam War Veteran, carrying the courage and resilience of his service through his life. As a career truck driver, he traveled countless miles, his hands on the wheel and his heart always anchored to his family. His tireless work ethic was a testament to his role as provider and leader, always striving to give his loved ones a life filled with security and love.
Thomas Hunt and his loving wife, Debra Hunt, shared a love so deep and radiant it seemed to light the world around them. Married for 51 years, she was his heart's home, his partner in every joy and trial. Every moment they spent together, whether in quiet prayer, shared laughter, or simply holding hands, was a testament to a love that grew stronger with each passing day. His love for family extended to his children, Thomas Hunt Jr and Cindy Baldwin (Kevin Baldwin); Grandchildren, Michael Proctor (Brianna Proctor), Derrick Proctor, Chloe Baldwin, and Dylan Baldwin; his precious great-granddaughter, Eden Proctor; and special nieces, Ashley Portis Dyer (William Dyer) and Amber Portis; along with other countless nieces and nephews, and in-laws, Pauline Mashburn, Donnie Mashburn, and Lorraine Portis (Alan Portis).
A devout Christian, Thomas placed God above all else, living a life that was a living sermon of faith and truth. He spent countless nights studying scripture for his Sunday School lessons, pouring his heart into guiding others toward God. His prayers for his family and country were a cornerstone in his life, reflecting his deep commitment to leading with honor and integrity. Thomas's Legacy is one of love, faith and leadership, inspiring all who knew him to love with purpose and devotion. His truth and faith will guide us always.
A Memorial service will be held at Cumby's in Archdale on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Visitation will start at 1pm, followed by a memorial service led by Thomas's good friend, pastor, and brother in Christ, Rick Shoemaker, at 2pm in Cumby's Chapel. Graveside services to follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
