Thomas V. Johnston

Thomas Vincent Johnston, age 93, a lifelong resident of the Carneys Point / Penns Grove area, passed away on November 9, 2025. Born and raised in Penns Grove, NJ, he was the son of the late James and Muriel Johnston and was a graduate of Penns Grove High School. After high school, Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He spent over 30 years working as a pipefitter at DuPont Chambers Works, from which he retired.
Thomas loved sports and was a track star in high school, earning several awards and medals. He was also a great basketball, baseball and softball player. In his later years, he just simply enjoyed taking rides in his truck with his dog Harlot. Thomas was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather who was extremely disciplined and constantly worried about his family and taking care of their every need. He was an excellent provider, would give you the shirt off of his back and was honest, never lied and always told you what he thought. But he will forever be remembered and appreciated for the loving care he provided to his wife Marie for the ten years following her stroke.
Thomas is survived by his sons Thomas J. Johnston and his wife Kristina and Kenneth Johnston and his wife Jennifer; his grandchildren Madeline, Javen and Hunter Johnston; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Marie S. Johnston and his siblings James, Dave, Warren, Muriel, Kenny and Janet.
