Thomas Michael Konczalski

Thomas Michael Konczalski of Shelby Township, Michigan passed away on September 13, 2024 at the age of 78. He was born on December 9, 1945 in Highland Park, Michigan to Walter and Josephine. Beloved husband of Gloria of almost 58 years, loving father of Carrie (Christopher) Zachary and Michael (Jennifer) Konczalski. Proud grandpa of Jenna, Carson and Camryn, dear brother of Robert (Rita) and Walter. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Tom was a 35 year General Motors employee working in the finance and real estate areas where he made great friends as well as bowling and golfing buddies.
He was a wonderful grandpa and spent many hours attending his grandkid's cheer, hockey and baseball events. He even went on his grandson's hockey team bus trip to Nashville, riding with the team and their great parents.
Tom was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed participating in various sports which included bowling (had a 300 game), fishing, boating, golf, hockey, racquetball, and pickleball. Tom's high school years included being on St. Thomas the Apostle High School Championship team, All Catholic East and All City East champions. He enjoyed many fishing and golfing trips with his dear friends and family. Tom and Gloria visited Utah many times to enjoy family and skiing.
Tom enjoyed casinos – in fact every spring he went with his brothers and sometimes Michael to Vegas and again in the fall for the Big Smoke, meeting up with the Utah family and Detroit family for a few days of gambling. He also took many trips to Atlantis that included golf and casino time.
Tom and Gloria did extensive traveling – multiple cruises in the Caribbean to travels in Europe including Italy, Poland, Greece, Turkey, and Paris, just to name a few. Tom enjoyed getting together with his St. Thomas friends, who met regularly at Buddy's for laughter and camaraderie.
Tom will always be remembered for his enjoyment of family and friends with a cigar, cold beer or 4:00 o'clock wine time with Gloria. But most of all he will be missed by friends and family for his kindness, support and the amazing person he was.
Visitation Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 Mile Rd), Shelby Twp. Instate Friday from 11:30 a.m. until a 12:00 p.m. funeral mass at St. Therese of Lisieux 48115 Schoenherr Rd., Shelby Township.
