Thomas "Tim" McCarthy Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away on the morning of January 2nd, 2025. Tim was born June 19, 1940, in Tacoma, Washington to Thomas McCarthy Sr. and Mary Virginia (Brotherton) McCarthy. Tim graduated from Bellarmine Preparatory School and attended Seattle University & Central Washington University. On June 29, 1963, he married the love of his life, Carole (Stowell) McCarthy, at St. Martin of Tours Church in Fife and together, they raised six children. Tim resided in the Fife community from 1948 to 2000 and was active in community affairs including being a volunteer firefighter, volunteering at St. Martin of Tours Parish, and being elected twice to the Fife City Council. He also coached several youth athletic teams, was a member of the Fife-Milton Active 20-30 Club, and volunteered extensively with the Special Olympics. Tim enjoyed a long and successful career at the Boeing Company where he held several management positions over 37 years. After retiring in 1999 as an executive in the Finance Department, Tim and Carole moved to South Hill in Puyallup. Tim and Carole divided their winters between Arizona and Mexico, where they developed friends in both places. Tim continued to give back to the community even after his retirement, volunteering in Arizona by preparing taxes and in Washington collecting food for church food banks. His spirit of community service never wavered. Above all, Tim cherished spending as much time as possible with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He took great pride in making sure they understood what it meant to be Irish and the importance having a deep faith in God. Tim was preceded in death by his daughters, Kelly and Trisha, as well as his siblings David McCarthy, Maryanne (McCarthy) LeSueur, and Claire (McCarthy) Sadlier. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carole; children Shannon, Tim (Cindy), Michael, and Pat (Scott); his grandchildren Tamara, David, Chelaè, Jennifer, Kaelin, Kendra, Kyler, Chanse, Talon, Madison, Jacob, and Carissa; his greatgrandchildren Caleb, Kennedy, Robert, Natalia, Makenna, Kami, Kyli, Kaeson, Kloey, Hadley, Emmy, John, Keaton, Zac, and Zayn; and his siblings Mickey Thomason, Sheila McAllister (Tom), Colleen Van Cleave, Terry McCarthy, Brian McCarthy, and Loretta McCarthy (Blaine). A celebration of his life will be held at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, in Fife on April 5, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests prayers and donations be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Bellarmine Preparatory, St. Martin of Tours, Special Olympics, or a charity of your choice in his memory.
