Mr. Thomas Joseph "Thom" Milbourne, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on August 14, 2025, in St. Joseph, Michigan. Born on October 30, 1964, in Lansing, Michigan, Thom lived a life full of dedication to his family, his work, and the simple joys that brought people together.
For over two decades, Thom proudly worked as a car hauler for Cassens Transport. He took great pride in his career and was a devoted member of his unions throughout his 23 years of service. His commitment to his profession reflected the same loyalty and strength he brought to every aspect of his life.
Thom was a beloved husband to April M. Karsten-Milbourne and a devoted father to Lilly-ann (Aaron), Jordan (Jesus), Mikayla, and Keegan (Samantha). He cherished his role as a grandfather to A.J., Alma, Javier, Jesus Jr., Luca, Rafael, Jackson, and Theodore. His love for family extended beyond immediate ties-he shared close bonds with many nieces and nephews, including one who has also his godson, as well as a great-nephew.
He is also survived by his mother Madeline Diamond, siblings Laurie (Ken) Schalow, John (Mary) Milbourne and Bill Millbourne. Thom was preceded in death by his father Donald Milbourne and stepfather Harold Diamond.
A familiar face at Baroda American Legion as a SAL member, Thom found joy in camaraderie and community. He especially loved playing euchre with friends there-a pastime that often came with laughter and friendly competition. His nephew Scott held a special place in his heart. They spent many meaningful moments together over the years.
Thom's sense of humor was ever-present-he was always ready with a witty joke that could lighten any room. He had a deep appreciation for classic rock music and delighted in sharing it with his grandchildren. Whether gathered around the table or out by the smoker, Thom loved bringing people together through food – his smoked meats were legendary among those lucky enough to enjoy them.
Above all else, Thom treasured time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family. His warmth and presence left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at the Baroda American Legion Post #345 in Baroda, Michigan on Saturday August 30, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
May Thomas Joseph "Thom" Milbourne's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
