Thomas James Powers, of Everett, formerly of East Boston, passed away on June 13, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 10, 1952, in Boston to the late Thomas and Margaret (Collins) Powers, Tommy lived a life full of joy, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
For 46 beautiful years, Tommy was the beloved husband of Maureen (McGonagle) Powers. Together they built a life centered on family, love, and shared adventures. He was the proud father of Shannon Wnukowski and Jermey Powers and his wife Leah Olenja-Powers. Nothing brought Tommy more joy than being "Papa" to his cherished grandchildren: Rhea and Maggie Wnukowski, and Luca, Lincoln, and Jacob Powers.
Affectionately known as "Uncle Tommy," he was like family to everyone he met. A brother to Peggy Brown and her husband Gary, Elaine Napolitano, Kathy Bodrero and her husband Shane, and Kenny Powers and his wife Barb, Tommy was also a beloved uncle to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Tommy grew up in East Boston and remained proud of his roots. He loved taking long road trips, and for over 40 years, he found peace and happiness camping at Locklin Campground. A true Boston sports fan, Tommy never missed a Patriots game and cheered passionately for the Bruins and BU Hockey.
Known for his warmth, kindness, and ever-present sense of humor, Tommy was the type of person who made everyone feel welcome. He was, simply put, a good guy - the kind you were lucky to know and proud to call family.
A celebration of life for Thomas will be held on Saturday, June 28th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Norman Prince VFW, 428 Main Street, Melrose MA 02176.
