Thomas D. "Tom" Rizor, age 78 of Washington, died surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 21, 2025 in Transitions Health Care, Washington. He was born January 19, 1947 in Hawai'i, the son of the late Raymond and Esther Phillips Rizor. He was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School and continued his education at the Fayette Institute, where he studied to be an electrician. He worked as an electrician for Gross Construction, and he also worked as a consultant at Washington Tool and Machine. He was an avid four-wheeler, and enjoyed time spent at the Four Seasons Resort. He knew a lot about property and was a strong advocate for Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, where he was active as a volunteer. Tom was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. On September 27, 1968 he married Stephanie L. "Stevie" Lacock. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sisters, Nardis Hardie of Washington and Gwen Hampe of Albuquerque, NM; nephews, Brian Lacock, Richard Hardie and Lonnie Hampe, Jr.; nieces, Renee Post and Holly Hall, and several great-nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Matthew Rizor; a sister, Laverne Rizor, and three brothers-in-law, Richard Lacock, Richard Hardie and Lonnie Hampe. Friends will be received Tuesday from 3 PM to 7 PM, the hour of services, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington. All other services will be private. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Angel Ridge Animal Rescue at www.angelridgeanimalrescue.org or to the charity of choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.piattandbarnhillfh.com. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Transitions Health Care for all their wonderful service and care to Tom and his family. Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors, Inc., Charles R.
