Thomas "Tom" Leo Titzer, 94, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Linda E. White Hospice House.
Tom was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 14, 1929 to the late Pat and Julia (McGuire) Titzer. He graduated from Reitz High School in 1947. Tom worked as a brickmason and was the State Champion in 1952. He retired from Alcoa after many years of service. He was a former member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and a current member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In his younger years, Tom was an avid hunter. He and his wife, Betty were adventurous travelers going to many places including: Ireland, Germany and Alaska. Tom was a talented poet, publishing his own book. He enjoyed dancing and attending Toastmasters events. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Tom will be deeply missed by all those who knew him, but those who had the pleasure of knowing him will always remember the blessing he was to their lives.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Ann (Lutz) Titzer of Evansville, IN; children, Steve Titzer (Sandy) of Evansville, IN, Becky Russell (Bob) of Dana Point, CA, Keith Titzer (Claudia) of Evansville, IN, Karen Titzer of Denver, CO, Jennifer Balkenbusch (Skip) of Ft. Wayne, IN, Mary Beth Cole (Chris) of Evansville, IN, David Titzer (Deneen) of Orlando, FL and Bernie Titzer (Kendra) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Courtney Quatmann (Ed), Stephanie Hayden (Bryan), Ross Titzer (Danielle), Daniel Titzer (Jamie), Ryan Titzer (Leah), Cory Balkenbusch, Craig Balkenbusch (Ciera), Melissa Mitchell (William), Meredith Folsom (William), Caitlin Vazquez (Noel), Alena Titzer and Joseph Titzer; and by 20 great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Miller (Richard); brother, Jim Titzer (Joan); great grandson, Walt Hayden; and Caitlin's mom, Diana Titzer.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Rd., Evansville, IN 47715 with Father Zach Etienne officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 pm at St. Bernard Cemetery, Snake Run.
Friends may visit from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 9:00 am until Mass time on Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Evansville, 560 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711.

I am saddened to hear of Mr. Titzer's passing. He was a fine man and I always enjoyed talking with him. My thoughts are with the family.
