Thomas Wesley Vann, 78, of NC Hwy 137, Eure, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 after a brief illness. A native of Gates County, he was the son of the late Howard A. and Della L. Vann and a graduate of Gates County High School, Class of 1964. Thomas was a poultry farmer all of his life, and loved every minute of it. He was a 50+ year member of the Winton Masonic Lodge #723 and a lifetime member of Cool Spring Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher for intermediate boys for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Thelma Hassell Vann; two daughters, Cindy Lee Vann and Cheryl Lynn Harrell and her husband, Douglas, all of Eure; and three granddaughters (who were the apple of his eye), Kathy Lynn Harrell, Bella Rose New, and Kellie Leann Harrell. Thomas was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Albert Vann.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 15th, at 3:00 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church, 1460 NC-137, Eure, with Pastor Eric Bass and Pastor Jimmy Smith officiating. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
