Thurman "Bud" Elkins, age 73 of Louisville, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 24, 2023, after several years of illness. He was born October 19, 1949, in Ashcamp, KY. At a young age his family moved to Ohio where he lived and raised his family for 55+ years. Bud proudly and honorably served his country. He was in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he earned a Purple Heart and several other medals. He was a member of Louisville American Legion #548, Louisville Eagles #2374, and Laborers Local 1015. Bud retired from Beaver Excavating where he had worked construction for 39 years. He was a selfless man, and will be remembered as an honest, giving man that would help anyone. He loved working on cars all his life. He loved watching Ohio State football with his family. He always had a place in his heart for his pets that were spoiled by him every day. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-five years, Marsha; his children Randy (Katie) Elkins of Westerville, David (Kandi) Elkins of Canton, Christina de Fays of Louisville, Chelsea Elkins of Raleigh, NC and Cory Elkins of Louisville; his grandchildren, Brittany, Megan, Lizzie and Sonrisa; his siblings Troy Elkins, Charles (Nancy) Elkins, Paul Elkins, John (Mary Jane) Elkins, Jean Dunn, Yvonne Kanyuch, and Gary (Diane) Webb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ferbie; brothers, Kermit and Mike Elkins; and sister, Norma Marie Judy.
