Timothy W. "Tim" Coryell, 54, Martinsville, passed away at 8:52 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at I.U. Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born on Tuesday, December 3, 1968 in Martinsville, Indiana, to the late Roland D. and Martha (Milsop) Coryell.
Tim was a 1987 graduate of Martinsville High School. He served his country in the United States Army and later with the Indiana National Guard. Tim continued to serve his community in law enforcement. He was first with the Martinsville Police Department and later with the Morgan County Sheriff's Department. Tim was instrumental with the Morgan County Drug Force. Before his career in law enforcement, he worked for many years at JW Jones. He was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. You could catch him most warm Saturday nights working the Paragon Speedway. He loved vacationing, especially cruising. He enjoyed being outside. Fishing, mushroom and ginseng hunting and doing projects around his home. He loved a good joke and tried to live on the less serious side. He was a go getter and you would rarely find him resting even through his cancer treatments. Tim was known in his community as someone with a big heart always willing to go above and beyond to help those in need no matter what the time of day and had a true passion for his job. A true servant's heart. He said to hate the drug not the addict. It should be noted that his good looks came from his sister, Mabel. He loved being a police officer and the comradery that came with the job.
Survivors are his wife, Lori A. (Davis) Coryell, whom he married on March 18, 1990; sons, Kaleb Coryell and Keaton Coryell both of Martinsville; daughter, Kristen Leitz and husband Dalton of Cloverdale; grandchildren, Cooper Leitz and Lucile Leitz; siblings, Roland "Rolly" Coryell, Jr. and wife Doreen of Florida, Kevin Coryell of Martinsville, Sandra Stokes and husband Michael of Florida, Beverly Ann Mejia and husband Lou of Greendale, Patty Owens of Martinsville and Shelli Bolton and husband Bob of Mooresville.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Martha; father-in-law, Dennis Davis; brothers-in-law, Bill Owens and Gregg Davis.
Funeral mass will be 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 1709 East Harrison Street, Martinsville, Indiana. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Hoosier Harvest Church, 4085 Leonard Road, Martinsville, Indiana.
Burial will be at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for contributions to be made to the Morgan County Drug Force, 160 North Park Avenue, Martinsville, IN 46151.
