Timothy Paul Kerlin, Sr., age 77, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, died Sunday, January 12, 2025, after a long period of declining health. Born January 24, 1947 in Zanesville, Ohio, he was the only child of the late William L. and Helen M. (Cummins) Kerlin.
After attending West Muskingum High School, Tim was drafted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for 22 years, including 2 tours in Vietnam, 2 in South Korea, 1 in Okinawa, and 1 in Germany. After retiring from the Army, he moved to Tuscarawas County where he was a life member of Tuscarawas V.F.W. Post #7943. Locally, he worked for American General and had been an assistant manager for Dollar General. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison.
On June 21, 1969, Tim married the former Mary Anne Cerana who survives him at their home. They were blessed with two children, T.J. (Luann) Kerlin and Lee Anne Kerlin, and two grandchildren, Chase and Abigail Kerlin. His family extend their sincere gratitude to everyone at Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care, Cornerstone Caregiving, and Second Family of East Central Ohio Home Care and Support Services, as well as Rebecca Turnbull, for the outstanding care they provided for Tim.
Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery near Dennison will follow a private family graveside service on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church and Immaculate Conception Elementary.
