On January 29, 2025, Timothy Brent Nelson, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his favorite place, his home at which time he joyfully reunited with his sweetheart, Connie.
Tim was born on July 10, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Rudger and Blanche Nelson.
He was raised in Granger, Utah, where many great memories were made, friendships
developed, many lasting a lifetime, the place he met his eternal companion, Connie and the place they raised their family.
Tim attended Cyprus High School until his senior year at which time he made the choice to
attend the "new" Granger High School and be the first graduating class of 1959. He said the decision was easy because Connie was only a sophomore and didn't have a choice and he wanted to be wherever she was.
Tim was a gifted athlete and excelled at any sport he set his mind to. To this day he holds the distinction of scoring the first touchdown at Granger High school. He also played on the baseball and basketball teams, helping his basketball team go on to the state playoffs. He was named athlete of the year and also served as senior class president. He then went on to play college basketball at Westminster college and Weber State.
On August 22, 1961, he married his sweetheart Connie, the girl he met on a summer day when he was 15 years old, a day he said was probably the best of his life. On August 5, 1976, they were sealed along with their three children in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Tim and Connie had one of those fairy-tale love stories, so full of love towards one another it seemed unreal. A marriage lasting 56 years on earth and sealed for eternity in heaven.
Tim was a man of strong principles and integrity, both characteristics that showed in his work ethic. He started his career working with his father as a contractor and builder while also working at Kennecott Copper. After retiring from Kennecott, he started his own business, Tim Nelson Construction. He always made sure each and every job was done to perfection, leaving behind a legacy of teaching many others these principles.
Tim also taught others the importance of enjoying life. He spent countless hours on the
mountains snow skiing with his children, boating at Bear Lake and Lake Powell, fly fishing on beautiful rivers, and many hours golfing with life-time friends. He also taught us that the best things in life are the simple yet beautiful creations from God: like a sunset, or a morning sunrise or a full moon or seeing an elk on the side of the road or looking out your front window at the majestic mountains.
Tim was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a quiet way of exemplifying how to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ. He simply loved everyone and loved you unconditionally with no judgement or guile. Serving and supporting others were his favorite past-times doing them both with a cheerful heart.
If you were blessed enough to have him in your life, you will have his imprint on your heart
forever.
Tim is survived by his children; Trina (Mark) Grandinetti, Mindi (Russ) Paskins, Chad Nelson; 8 grandchildren, Tori (Logan) Locke, Desirae (Darren) Jaynes, Samantha (Jesse) Williams, Riley (Emily) Grandinetti, Luke Nelson, Parker Nelson, Whitney (Nick) Beard, Connor Nelson, and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Connie Carr Nelson, and parents, Rudger and Blanche Nelson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2025, at the River Ridge 12th Ward LDS Chapel 1244 Chavez Dr. South Jordan, Utah. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 12:00-12:45. Internment at Valley View Memorial Park. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com

Our family enjoyed having Tim and Connie as neighbors for over 30 years. They have been really close with our family and were the best neighbors you could hope for. They were both so fun to be around. Tim loved to stop by and see how we were doing whenever he drove by.
He and Connie always seemed to be aware of what we were doing and wanted to support our family. It was fun having Tim stop by at our daughters basketball games to cheer them on. He always wanted to find out if they were doing well.
We'll always remember Tim and Connie as amazing people who were down-to-earth and so warm and loving!

So sorry to hear of his passing, my husband and him were friends for a long long time, Tim is the one that introduced me to Mike in a home economics class room, we were all very good friends from that time on. We were fortunate enough to have him visit us in Mesquite, Nv, last winter, he was on his way to see his son. We did keep in touch from time to time, and catch up with all the old friends from school. I'm betting he is so happy to finally be with his sweetheart, Connie, I pray for God to be with his family during this time, he will be missed by so many! RIP our good friend!

We met Tim and Connie about 25 years ago through mutual friends who also went to Granger High School, and were in the first graduating class with Tim. We heard many great stories about those times.
Tim, no doubt, was heartbroken when his beautiful Connie passed.
What a true love story they had.
On a lighter note, Tim said he had no idea how to operate the washer and dryer, because he never had to. Connie always took care of those things. But he was quite proud of himself when he did finally learn.
More recent years were spent with Tim golfing and doing occasional Tuesday burger lunches with the guys.
He always spoke proudly of his family, and how much he loved the time spent with them. Tim was a kind, gentle and well-spoken man.
We were lucky to be able to call him friend.
We are sorry for your loss.
Rest in peace Tim.

I met Timothy playing golf. He invited me to play with him and his other friends. I enjoyed playing with him the last two summers. Playing for fun is the best way to play golf. It was fun playing with Tim.
