Obituary of Timothy Allen Smith, Jr.
AVERILL PARK –
April 3, 1984 - September 6, 2024
Timothy "Tim" Smith Jr. of Averill Park passed away unexpectedly at Albany Medical Center on September 6, 2024.
Tim was born in Amsterdam on April 3, 1984 to Timothy and Darlene Smith. Tim graduated from Fonda-Fultonville Central School in 2002.
Tim was joined in marriage to Holly Minter on June 3, 2006. Over their 21 year relationship, they welcomed three children: Maylynn, Orrin and Arlo Smith. Tim was an amazing husband and an incredible father. His love for his family was obvious to everyone around. Tim was a proud business owner for the past 15 years. Tim's customers were considered family and he would always go above and beyond for each one. Tim also enjoyed metal detecting and volunteering with the Hoags Corners Fire Department.
In addition to his wife and three children, Tim's surviving relatives include his mother Darlene Smith of Sprakers, a sister Shay (Tim) Breheny of Fort Plain, a sister Trista (Keith Cool) Smith of Fonda. Tim had lifelong friendships with James Krzys (Brunswick) and Aaron Bouton (Tribes Hill). Tim is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a cousin.
Tim ALWAYS had a smile on his face and his positive attitude towards life was contagious. Tim gave famous hugs that were strong and sincere. To feel Tim's love was unforgettable and made a lasting impression.
Friends and Family are asked to gather at 2 pm on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Hoag's Corners Firehouse () for a Celebration of Life.
Donations towards Tim's children can be made at the Firehouse.
Tim loved being surrounded by people he cared about in life and in Tim's words, "it's going to be awesome!"

Timmy was one of my favorite people. I met him while president of the Metal Detecting Club and we became friends because he was such an outgoing and friendly guy. He rebuilt the chimney's on my Victorian house - as a surprise he made special lion attachments for them. We went out metal detecting, just the two of us, many times. It was always "It's gonna be awesome!" before we left. And it always was! Timmy loved life, his wife and especially his kids, and was fiercely loyal to his friends! Godspeed my friend. I'll see you again.

What a shame this is. He worked on my pellet stove twice and outside of that I didn't really know him but, He left his mark with his upbeat attitude and just the great way he presented himself as a person and professional. I told my wife what a cool dude he was after he left. Super nice guy and great to chat with. So sorry for your loss. He was a bright star for sure.

My deepest condolences to the family! Tim was responsible for setting up a metal detecting hunt years ago and I found a gun powder flask. That is one of the best items I have found. So sorry for your loss.
