Services for Tim Whitley, 28, of Athens, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Benefield officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.
Tim passed away in Athens, Texas on July 5, 2023.
Timothy Jon Whitley was born June 6, 1995, in Athens, Texas to Jeremy Jon Whitley and Connie Elizabeth (Phillips) Whitley. He attended Athens High School, played tennis and along with his brother were district and regional champions in doubles. He loved sports of all kinds, especially the Dallas Cowboys football team and loved to rap and sing with his mom. Timothy had a great sense of humor, enjoyed making people laugh, loved hanging out with his friends and his brother and going fishing with his grandfather. He was a longtime member of the Dogwood Church in Athens and went on a number of mission trips and truly loved helping others. His last act of selflessness was to be an organ donor, even in death, he wanted to help people.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Levina Phillips and his great grandfather Teddy Compton.
He is survived by his parents Jeremy and Connie Whitley of Athens; his brother Nolan Whitley and wife Katelynn of Dallas; grandmother Connie Olsen of Midland; paternal grandfather Johnny Whitley and wife Tesa of Horseshoe Bay; maternal grandfather Nolan Phillips of Athens; aunts and uncles, Conoley Olsen and wife Aimsley, Summer Juarez and husband Arturo, Dustin Martin and wife Nikole, Jessica Burnham and husband Mikey and a host of family and friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
