Dr. Tomislav Dukic

Dr. Tomislav Dukic, 87, of Hawthorn Woods, IL, passed away peacefully Feb. 20, 2025. Dr. Dukic was born in Yugoslavia and graduated at the top of his class from the University of Belgrade Medical School. After arriving in the U.S., he completed his internship and residency at Saint Joseph Hospital Chicago, and a fellowship at Cook County Hospital. Thereafter, Dr. Dukic was honored to serve as a dedicated civilian physician supporting military recruitment services for the U.S. Armed Forces for 50 years. Simultaneously, Dr. Dukic grew a private practice in internal medicine and infectious disease, serving a loyal and appreciative patient base who valued his passion, kindness and expertise. His deep acumen was eclipsed only by his outstanding patient manner. Dr. Dukic received many accolades throughout his career, including recognition from his patients several times as their "Favorite Doctor" while on staff at Ravenswood Hospital and at Community First Hospital. A lifelong learner, he also loved sharing his knowledge with his students as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center, as a teaching attending physician at Ravenswood Hospital, and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. For 19 years, he also served as official physician for the National 4-H Congress. When not working, Dr. Dukic was an avid reader, gardener, photographer, and soccer fan. A man of deep faith, he helped build his Serbian hometown's first church.
We lost an exceptional doctor, beloved husband, father, grandfather and he will be dearly missed.
Dr. Dukic is survived by his wife Nancy Dragoslava of 58 years; his daughters Lena (Robert) Stinsa and Julia (Joseph) Ellefson; and his grandchildren Isabella, Renata, Luca and Brooke. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
Visitation for Dr. Dukic will be from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Thursday Feb. 27th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral service will be held Friday Feb. 28th at 11:30 AM at New Gracanica Serbian Monastery, 35240 W Grant Ave, Lindenhurst, IL 60046 with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the New Gracanica Serbian Monastery would be greatly appreciated. Funeral info (847) 362-2626.
